PCSO MONTHLY WARD UPDATE Welcome to our monthly Hangleton & Knoll Ward update by Beat PCSO Sharon Baker
Ward Priorities Speeding Vehicles, noisy motorbikes, Youths on scooters.
Ward Update Currently some key concerns in the area include: Suspicious males wandering around the area knocking on doors, vehicle being driven whilst SORN. Speeding vehicles and noisy motorbikes. Smell of drugs in stairwell. Police have received reports of a male wandering around Hangleton knocking on doors, no one was identified at the time and there have not been any further reports. For the month of December there were no reported burglaries, which is good news for our area. Residents are concerned about vehicles that have been registered as SORN on the DVLA website, this is an offence and Police have the power to seize motor vehicles that have been declared off road, whether they are being driven or not. If being driven then further offences will be relevant and the driver prosecuted. In relation to reports of noisy vehicles and speeding on our residential streets, if vehicles are caught making excessive noise these can be issued with a warning notice that will remain with the driver and vehicle for 12 months, or vehicle can be seized. Excessive speed is also very dangerous to the community. Electric scooters remain a problem within the area and I would like to remind everyone that they can only legally be ridden on private land with the land owners permission. If caught riding an electric scooter on the road or pavements, these can be seized and destroyed.
Incidents of Note / Any other Business The smell of cannabis is reported often and will be dealt with accordingly, not only is cannabis a class B drug and illegal, also the smell can affect those who live nearby. Crime figures for the month of December are low compared with the same time last year, which is good news, also with no reported burglaries.
